2022 has been a year that will be remembered by those who live in China.
Last night, I had an online party (a year-end summary and new year celebration) with my tech friends from Bytedance and Tencent. Due to the pandemic, these online parties have become a tradition for my friends in Beijing / Shanghai / Shenzhen and me.
They told me that two weeks ago, everyone was mostly staying home, but last Friday, their office in Beijing was already at 80% capacity. They also sent me a picture of a long queue outside my favorite Peking Duck restaurant, which is a sight that hasn't been seen in a while. I'm glad to see that it's still in business.
Human society has short memories, but the changes in habits and mindset will be long-lasting.
To all my readers, I want to say thank you for spending your holiday time and waiting hours in departure lounges with The Meditations. I wish you all a great 2023. 新年大吉.
